Can anyone break down the cost of 1candle? Also, how you did it.?

If I paid $17 for 16 ounces of scent,$50 for 60 pounds of wax, $40 for 1000 wicks, and $1.30 for a container, how do I get the acutal cost of a 12oz candle

You need to differentiate between ounce weight and ounce volume. I’m assuming you want to know the “cost of a 12oz candle” because you have a 12 oz container. The 12 oz for the container is a volume. To do this accurately you need the density of the wax you’re using. (Density is mass/volume). Divide the 60lbs of wax (960 oz) by the density to get the volume of how much wax you have. Make sure your end units are in ounces, and divide the cost of the wax by your volume to get the price per ounce. Divide this value by 12 (volume of the container) to get how many candles you can make with 60 pounds of wax.

Once you have how many candles you can make, you can figure out how much scent per candle. Divide 16 (ounces of scent) by the number of candles. Multiply this value by the per unit price of the scent ($1.06/oz) to get the price per candle of scent.

The price per candle will be the price of the wax ($50) divided by the number of candles, plus the price per candle of scent, plus the price of one wick ($.04 per wick), plus the price of one container ($1.30).
